About HIA France

Founded in 2005, Humanity in Action France creates educational programs that train decision-makers of today and tomorrow on issues of diversity, discrimination and equal opportunity in a historical, comparative and action-oriented perspective.
HIA France aims at educating a new generation of social innovators who will take action to build more inclusive and cohesive societies - and at promoting knowledge and dialogue among public institutions, businesses and civil society.
Humanity in Action France organizes the HIA Fellowship in Paris and Lyon for university students from France and the United States. HIA France also supports an active network of nearly 100 French Senior Fellows who are committed to being active and engaged citizens in their own communities.
Humanity in Action France is a registered association loi 1901.

"Take action for equality" Summer school 2013

Each year, HIA France hosts an intense summer school during which 20 students from France and the USA explore diversity issues in France in a historical and comparative perspective, and develop tools to become social innovators in the field.
The sessions involve over 50 speakers (experts, institutional representatives, politicians, grassroots leaders, including HIA senior fellows), 6 days a week, group discussions run by the youth, and workshops designed to enhance their skills on this particular matter. Its content and format, while keeping the same thread (historical roots, contemporary issues, existing solutions, research and training), adapts to new locations and new “hot topics” every year.

The summer program ends by an international conference where 150 youths from Bosnia, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine and the United States gather around human rights issues from an international perspective.
Fellows are to implement a project after their participation in the summer program, alone or as a group, with the support of the HIA network – staff, speakers and senior fellows across the world.
